Revision Campaign launches at New College Pontefract

A special week of activities launching the college’s revision campaign are taking place at New College Pontefract.

Staff are wearing colourful rosettes to highlight how crucial the time leading up to the exam season is and all students have watched a film about revision recorded by staff and students.

Activities include a revision club, extra sessions over Easter and May half term, ‘time to revise’ display boards and a host of revision tips, techniques and messages screened around the college. Parents can get involved too by being able to download the revision resources available on the College website.

A “ BTEC Distinction* ” campaign has also been launched with the aim of ensuring BTEC students are working towards high grades as they near the end of their courses.  BTEC teachers are wearing different rosettes to highlight the importance of high grades for progression, and students are being informed of the exact steps needed to achieve an overall D* in each BTEC subject.

Chelsea Branson, Assistant Principal said: “As we near the exam period the approach each student takes to revision is vital to their future success.  The ‘Time to Revise’ launch is designed to raise the profile of this 10 week period and instil the importance of revision in the lead up to AS and A2 exams.  All staff are involved in the launch, promoting extra sessions available for students to attend, giving out revision topic lists and wearing rosettes to support the launch.  The remaining weeks must be approached with determination, effort and hard work!”
