Unless your request is urgent we ask you use the email ticket system for support.

How can I access Microsoft Teams?

You can access Teams via the web interface by visiting portal.office.com or you can download the full Teams desktop client by visiting https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads in most cases you’ll want the desktop client, as it offers better Audio/Video quality compared to the web interface.

Please note, if you are using the Remote Desktop system (staff), you will not be able to use audio/video in Teams. Instead you should log onto Teams through your browser on your computer before accessing the Remote Desktop system, at the same time, check your speakers and microphone are working properly on your laptop. If you have borrowed a laptop from college, you will be able to install the desktop version of Teams, but not through the remote desktop system.

Can I download Microsoft Office for my own computer?

Yes – the agreement NCLT has in place with Microsoft allows all staff and students to download a version of Office for their own personal laptop, tablet or phone. Simply sign into portal.office.com with your New College username and password and click the “Install Office” button in the top right corner.

Can I download Adobe Creative Cloud for my own computer?

Yes – We can’t offer Adobe for home to all students, but our license agreement allows those who are studying Visual Arts subjects to install Creative Cloud at home by signing into their account at creativecloud.adobe.com.

What happens to my account after I finish studying at New College?

Student accounts will be closed 30 days after your final day of study. This gives you time to copy or transfer anything you need to your personal storage.

It is really important that you transfer any files or emails before your account expires or when you finish your course. We are unable to recover them for you once you have completed. Files include any assignments, projects, videos, audio and image files saved on a college computer. These can be on Teams or on your college storage space (N drive, Apple Storage, and OneDrive).

Your files can be transferred to an online storage platform (such as OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox etc.) linked to a non-college account or a storage device (external hard drive or USB stick).

You should forward or transfer any emails you want to keep to a non-college/different email account before your account expires.

Remember to update any accounts linked with your college email, especially if you have used your college email address to sign up for UCAS.
