If you have not set security questions and cannot use this service you will need to call the help desk using the details below. Please note, we cannot reset passwords via email or Teams for security reasons.
What should I do if I need IT help?
The IT help desk will be open as normal between 8:30am and 4:00pm Mon-Fri throughout the closure.
You can contact us by emailing ithelpdesk@nclt.ac.uk to open a support ticket, or you can phone us on 01977 702139 in Pontefract, 01302 976777 in Doncaster, and 01274 089189 in Bradford. Our phone lines might be quite busy so you can also leave a message for us to get back to you.
Staff – You will have been sent a list of extension numbers which can be dialled at the prompt on the menu system. Please note that phone lines will be busy so your call may take longer than normal to be answered. Unless your request is urgent we urge you to use the email ticket system for support.
How can I access Microsoft Teams?
You can access Teams via the web interface by visiting portal.office.com or you can download the full Teams desktop client by visiting https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads in most cases you’ll want the desktop client, as it offers better Audio/Video quality compared to the web interface.
Please note, if you are using the Remote Desktop system (staff), you will not be able to use audio/video in Teams. Instead you should log onto Teams through your browser on your computer before accessing the Remote Desktop system, at the same time, check your speakers and microphone are working properly on your laptop. If you have borrowed a laptop from college, you will be able to install the desktop version of Teams, but not through the remote desktop system.
How can I access Moodle, Cedar and other college systems?
You can find links to these sites on the NCLT portal by visiting portal.nclt.ac.uk or on the homepage of your college’s website.
Can I download Microsoft Office for my own computer?
Yes – the agreement NCLT has in place with Microsoft allows all staff and students to download a version of Office for their own personal laptop, tablet or phone. Simply sign into portal.office.com with your New College username and password and click the “Install Office” button in the top right corner.
Can I download Adobe Creative Cloud for my own computer?
No – unfortunately, unlike the first lockdown, Adobe have discontinued their offer to extend free licenses to students outside of college.
You may still be able to register for a free trial of Adobe Creative Cloud.
Can I download Avid Sibelius and Pro Tools for my own computer?
Yes, if you are studying a course which requires you to use the software, you can make a request via your teacher to be granted a free 90 day license for either or both Avid products. Please note, you will need to create an Avid.com account and you won’t be able to access the Native Komplete sample and plugin library.
If you have borrowed a laptop from college, you will not be able to install this software, it’s for personal computers only.
Can I download Apple Pro Apps (Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro X) for my own computer?
Yes, Apple have recently started to offer extended 90-day trials of Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro X in response to the growing amount of people working from home. These can be downloaded from the following links:

Logic Pro X – Try Logic Pro X free for 90 days.
Please note, you will need a Macintosh computer, running a recent version of macOS to use this software. It will not be able to be installed on a PC running Windows or any other device/operating system combination.
