From Pupil to Principal: Wingfield Academy Headteacher Featured in Rotherham Advertiser

New Collaborative Learning Trust is delighted to see Wingfield Academy Headteacher, Jordon O’Neill, featured in the Rotherham Advertiser in recognition of her remarkable journey from pupil to principal.

Having attended Wingfield Academy herself, Jordon returned to the school after completing her education and has dedicated her career to supporting young people within the community that helped shape her. Progressing through a range of roles, including teaching assistant, mathematics teacher, Head of Mathematics and Assistant Headteacher, she now leads the academy and continues to drive its success.

The feature reflects not only Jordon’s personal commitment and ambition, but also the transformative journey of Wingfield Academy. Once in special measures, the academy has undergone significant improvement over the years and recently received a highly positive Ofsted report, with inspectors praising both the school’s culture and the conduct of its students.

In the article, Jordon reflects on the values of respect, responsibility and resilience that have remained central to the academy throughout its development and continue to underpin its work today.

Phil Davis, Executive Director of Secondary Education at New Collaborative Learning Trust, described Jordon’s story as one of “dedication, ambition and commitment to the community that helped shape her”, highlighting the impact of her leadership and the difference being made to the lives of young people across Rotherham.

Jordon’s journey exemplifies the power of education to transform lives and the importance of schools serving at the heart of their communities. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and delighted to see her leadership recognised in the local media.
