About our Primary Schools

Our Primary Schools

Trudi Toms – NCLT Director of Primary Education

There are currently three primary schools within the New Collaborative Learning Trust. All three schools run their own bespoke, creative curriculum, inspiring our pupils to develop a life long love of learning.

Our schools ensure that basic skills have a high priority, teaching English and maths through exciting, innovative and interesting lessons, consistently aiming high. Teachers are supported through our School Improvement Team to develop their skills, work collaboratively across all the schools and share good practice.

From early years, early reading and phonics, to the MTC and Year 6 SATs, our staff work as a team across the Trust to develop skills, knowledge and understanding and provide an exceptional education. We have a collaborative approach within the Trust. Focus Groups made up of staff from the schools work together on key priorities. The Senior Leaders in the schools have strong collaborative relationships providing a positive support network as well as a further level of challenge and support and we work as the NCLT team to provide the very best for our pupils, their families and our communities.

The unique curriculum in each school is developed by the staff using the national curriculum as a basis, with creativity at the core, to ensure that our pupils are inspired to learn and grow. Our primary schools prepare our pupils for life ahead, creating citizens of the future who show respect, kindness, independence in their learning and a desire to achieve well in all areas.

A place where children grow.

When visitors walk into our school they feel welcome. There is an air of creativity, a feeling of excitement and obvious enthusiasm and love for learning from children and staff alike. To be truly successful, a school needs to have a heart, and Thorpe Hesley Primary School has a big heart.

We feel at Thorpe Hesley Primary School that the most important part of our Outstanding school is the pupils. We hope that, should you visit us, you feel this too.

As a primary school, staff, pupils and parents are working together to be a school we can be proud of. Our community is at the heart of everything we do.

Parents, carers and grandparents are always welcome in school to support us in whatever way they feel they can. Come and join us in our learning!

Our school is a special place in which we will uncover your child’s talents and celebrate their achievements. It is a happy and caring place.

We endeavour to make sessions interesting and expect that children will work hard and be enthusiastic about their learning. We believe in making sure that children have a whole host of experiences during their time at school (our ‘bucket list’) from going for a walk in the woods, learning to swim, playing a musical instrument and going on residential. Whilst we do have a wide curriculum with lots of exciting experiences, we believe that children succeed by mastering the basics of reading, writing and mathematics. Teachers track children’s progress thoroughly and help them to realise their potential.  The classes are managed to ensure the progress of all pupils taking into account differing abilities and strengths and achievement is continually monitored.

We understand that your child is special and that they can make a positive contribution to life in school and in the wider community. We look forward to working with you in order to ensure that your child makes progress and embraces the school motto of ‘being the best that they can be’ in all aspects of their life.
