New College Pontefract

New College Pontefract is an outstanding sixth form college, rated Grade 1 by Ofsted in 2014. For five years it has been in the top five of the DfE league tables for achievement, and in 2020 won both the coveted TES Sixth Form College of the Year award and TES Best Overall FE Provider of the Year award, becoming the first sixth form college in the country to do so.  

Situated on the edge of Pontefract Racecourse, one of the largest flat courses in the country, it currently has 2,500 students studying over 50 different courses.  In 2019, it achieved an A*-B rate of 60.1% at A-Level and a BTEC high grade rate of 92%, and has consistently gained similar results for the last five years, achieving an A-Level high grade rate of 64% in 2020.  

The original college in our multi-academy trust, New College Pontefract has developed the systems and strategies which have subsequently been embedded in all our other institutions. It continues to play an active role in collaboration, not only with the other institutions in the Trust, but as the lead partner in the Trust’s teaching school, sharing and learning through collaborative CPD with over 30 schools and colleges.  

New College Doncaster

New College Doncaster opened to students in 2017, and has quickly established a reputation for excellence, with strong results coupled with great student support.

The most recent government performance tables rank New College Doncaster as the highest performing A level provider in Doncaster, with students achieving grades stronger than similarly qualified students elsewhere. Achievement rates are also outstanding, with the college ranking 4th out of all sixth form colleges in the most recent tables. In 2019, the college achieved an A-Level pass rate of 99%, with 51% of A-Level students achieving an A*- B and 97% of students achieving a distinction or distinction* in BTEC courses. The college’s results were exceeded in 2020, with a 100% pass rate in both A-Level and applied general courses, as well as 56% A* – B at A-Level.  

Situated in Auckley in south Doncaster, the college is adjacent to green fields and is housed on a large purpose-built site. The college has roughly 1250 students, who in addition to academic study participate in a high-quality tutorial programme, supporting progression to university, Russell Group universities, and high-quality apprenticeships and employment. The college is also proud of its extensive enrichment programme, both within its courses and through a very wide range of extra-curricular activities, clubs, societies and programmes.

New College Bradford

New College Bradford is the provider of choice for 1200 students in the Bradford region. The purpose-built sixth form college opened in September 2019 with what is believed to be the highest number of new students attending a free school in its first year, and has consistently been over-subscribed since. As well as being the largest provider of A-Levels in the region, the college offers a range of applied general qualifications for students from the Bradford area.  

Situated five minutes’ walk from Bradford Interchange, the college is popular with staff and students as a safe space to learn, study and excel. With a sharp focus on embedding pedagogical lessons from developmental cognitive psychology, the college prides itself on providing high quality post-16 teaching in a supportive but challenging environment. 

Wingfield Academy

Wingfield Academy is an 11-16 secondary school with 900 students. The school has established a reputation in the area for combining a supportive educational environment with a culture of high expectations for students, a strategy which has helped strengthen its outcomes for learners, thereby making it an increasingly popular choice with parents.   Over the past three years, the school has been in the top three of the town’s sixteen secondary schools and is in the top 6% of all schools in the country for progress. Attainment and progress in all non-EBacc subjects are well above national averages.   Situated in the north of Rotherham, the school has a spacious site with a horticulture centre, several sports pitches and even its own small lake and copse. It also has good links with the M1, A1(M) and M18.
