Having originally attained the prestigious award in May 2014, New College are pleased to announce they have successfully retained their Leaders in Diversity status in January 2017.
Lauren Walker, Assistant Principal for Human Resources, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and recognition of our continued commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion for our college community. It requires a real team effort and, on behalf of everyone at the college, I wanted to say how very proud we are to retain the award.”
John Ryan, Assessor for the National Centre for Diversity, said: “It was a joy to be in such a positive environment which is clearly supporting equality, diversity and inclusion. The whole staff team can be proud of the part they are playing in preparing their students so well for the challenges and opportunities their futures will no doubt throw at them.”
Richard Fletcher, Associate Principal for New College Pontefract said: “This recognises and confirms that the college continues to provide a truly inclusive education for all. To receive this award again is a fantastic achievement for both staff and students.”
In February 2016, New College Pontefract was featured in the National Centre for Diversity Top 100 Index at number 43. The index highlights the very best of over 600 organisations from across the UK, celebrating commitment and excellence around equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The College also featured at number 4 in the FE Sector Diversity Awards 2016 in November 2016.
